Cotton's Gourmet Gifts & Creations specializes in dee-licious from scratch cakes and baked goods for any occasion. My designs are tailored to your personal tastes and style. Each cake is fresh baked to order made with 100% all natural ingredients and NEVER frozen. I offer affordable priced cakes and baked goods as well as catering services for all to enjoy.         
 

                             Business History

In honor and memory of my adored & beloved daddy, James Henry Ward a.k.a. "Papa Jim", I established a custom-cake service catering to engaged couples and guests-of-honor to celebrate special occasions. Sadly, my father was called home April 30, 2002 -the day before his 65th birthday. Remembering how he was a jack-of-all-trades (built his own home in Madison, VA) and a lover-of-all sweets, I was inspired to step out on faith through the grace of my Lord and Savior, and establish a wedding cake service for all who love sweets, and cater to those who dig southern cooking. Since he often dreamed of establishing his very own coffee shop, but was unable to do so in his lifetime, I'm picking up where his dream left off.

Now a single parent of 3, my ‘little people’ keep me moving "sho-nuff" in the right direction. I thank the Lord everyday for having the strength to maintain it all. . . . just for them. Currently, I am a stay-at-home mother dedicated to serving them. . . .and you!

                Who is Cotton?

"Cotton" was my father's nickname for me, hence, COTTON's Gourmet Gifts & Creations. Since I was knee-high to a duck, I have adored baking. My mother, Ms. Barbara Carter Ward, is a baker extraordinaire. Riding the "genetic wave", cooking & baking is a natural function for both me and my mother as well as my grandma, Ms. Beulah Mae Carter of N.W. DC.

I established Cotton's Gourmet G&C in June 2003. To maintain personalized care, attention to detail and accuracy, I remain a small business. Over the past four years, I have worked with other bakers and caterers as well as event planners on numerous events. Currently, I enjoy working on all cakes myself in every single aspect- from baking, decorating and delivering- to ensure a dee-licious and fabulous cake. However, my assistant accompanies me on deliveries and receiving phone messages. On catering events, I have a wonderful and professional wait staff that satisfies our clients to the utmost. I am proud to know and work with each and every one of them.             Howard (one of my brothers) & Cotton
